Just months after the release of Baz Luhrmann’s cinematic masterpiece Elvis with Austin Butler (you can read our interview here) it seems another famous filmmaker is looking to immortalise the rock star’s life on the screen. According to a report from DeadlineSofia Coppola has tapped Jacob Elordi to play Elvis Presley in an upcoming biopic. Yes, another one.

The film will this time be titled Priscilla and is based upon the New York Times bestselling memoir Elvis and Me by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley. Coppola has adapted the script and will serve as director while actress Cailee Spaeny – known for her roles in On the Basis of Sex and VICE – will portray Priscilla.

According to sources for the publication, Coppola has been “eyeing off” the adaption for sometime as a follow-up to her film, On The Rocks. She reportedly met with several actors before eventually casting the Euphoria star. Production is believed to begin towards the end of 2022.

His casting could have something to do with the fact he so perfectly emulated the King of Rock for a joint Halloween costume with Kaia Gerber. Manifestation at its finest.

Elordi announced the news on social media by simply posting an original black-and-white photo of Presley to Instagram, expectedly during the time the singer served in the military. Elordi captioned the post, “E”.

After garnering worldwide fame in roles for Euphoria and The Kissing Booth, the 25-year-old has gone on to cement his position in Hollywood with films such as Deep Water (even finding a fan in Leonardo DiCaprio). Of course the transition to fame has not be an easy one with the actor even asking co-star Ben Affleck for advice when the attention got too overwhelming.

“It felt like, all of a sudden, I was a poster,” Elordi said in a recent interview. “Like I was a billboard. It felt like it was for sale. Then my brain went through the f–king wringer. Like, I wasn’t sure if I was genuine. It really skews your view…. It creates a very paranoid way of living.”

Something tells us its going to get a lot more hectic for Elordi.
