Coco Chanel once famously said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” When in Mykonos, however, it’s more a case of when you leave the villa, take everything off. Just look at models Gigi and Bella Hadid, who have really taken heed of the “less is more” approach and gone full-flossy with their swimsuit selection while holidaying in Greece. In what appears to be a kind of “who can wear less” type contest, the sisters have embraced the island’s skimpy / scant modus operandi wearing an array of thong-bottomed, bosom-revealing bikinis in everything from punchy neons to graphic prints.
Gigi Hadid first set the tone on Sunday morning in a peach-baring orange bikini by Danielle Guizio (the same brand gal pal Kendall Jenner also wore during her Myconian escapade, albeit a shimmering silver version). Posing inside her chalk-white villa, the model looked away pensively with her gloriously toned bottom out for all to see (including father Mohammed who wrote, “Well good morning beautiful lady”). Neon orange and cheeky in cut, it was to be the start of a series of teeny-tiny bikinis for the Hadid sisters.
Bella soon followed (swim)suit, with a daring, cut-out one piece by Central Saint Martins graduate Louisa Ballou. The skimpy Sex Wax One-Piece Swimsuit – available exclusively on Ssense – features a summery graphic print and gold hoop hardware, which Bella took to glitzy new Myconian heights with stacked rings, earrings, necklaces, Chanel sunglasses – even a delicate chain belt – which she looped underneath those high, high-cut brief bottoms for one last hit of razzle dazzle.
Then it was back to Gigi, who from the front, seemed to take her swimsuit-styling more modestly. But one quick scroll across and – oh, hi! – her pert little peach was back in an itsy-bitsy teenie-weenie-polka-dot thong bikini by fellow model Devon Windsor’s eponymous swim label.
Back to Bella, and her bikini habits took an even sexier turn (is that even possible?) in a high-cut, left-little-to-the-imagination kind of swim situation. Posing on a day bed in the printed white bikini and bucket hat (and a lot of sun oil), the mini photoshoot was like that of a Sports Illustrated cover; a little leg spread, a lot of boob and some highly strung side-ties.
As the girls celebrate big sister Alana’s birthday on the Greek isle, we expect the barely-there bikinis to continue roll on in. Nothing like a little old-fashioned sibling rivalry, now is there?
