Don’t be left in the dark: the dark lip is the biggest makeup trend from the The Critics’ Choice Awards.
Swinging in and out of beauty favour, the dark lip has staged its comeback on The Critics’ Choice Awards red carpet, seen on the likes of Emmy Rossum, Chrissy Teigen and Maggie G.
Perhaps the most spectacular rendition was seen on actress Emmy Rossum. It was a sexy, brooding lip done right; lined with the ultimate precision, the deep crimson pout was the star of an all-round stellar beauty look. Paired perfectly with clean, luminous skin and a simple, defined eye, Rossum’s dark lip rose the occasion.
Then there was Chrissy Teigen, who sported a softer iteration of the dark lip, which was even blown-out at its edges. Creamier in finish, the carmine lip was blurred ever so slightly around the lip line, a trick used to enhance the fullness of the pout (although Chrissy really doesn’t need it!)
And then Maggie Gyllenhaal’s was lighter again, a deep cherry red with a shiny, satin finish; it’s a great entry level dark lip for those playing at home.
A beauty trend which typically exists in winter, make like Hollywood and mix up your summer beauty game with power pigments in cherry, claret and maroon for a little something different.
