SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Wentworth Avenue in Sydney’s centre became a runway for Aje classics on Wednesday evening as brilliant pops of colour punctuated the city’s grey strip; cascading ruffles, puffy shoulders, and glistening sequins catching the day’s last light.
Purveyors of partywear and Laureate Designer Of The Year nominee Aje were holding their annual holiday party, this one themed “Enwrapped with Aje” – a literal representation of every guest who rode the elevator to Kiln, the rooftop bar atop the The Ace Hotel. It was also a night to celebrate the brand’s Resort 2023 collection “Sculptura”, a mix of chiffon, fine pleating, frothy skirts and waist-baring cut-outs which debuted at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week in May of this year.
Delicately weaving through the strappy-heeled crowd were waiters with delicious canapés, martinis and champagne – eventually sitting them on tiny calico-wrapped tables with sculptural anthuriums and decadent floral displays by Grandiflora. (This fine detail was the work of Aje collaborator Joseph Gardener who took inspiration from Aje’s ‘Enwrapped’ holiday campaign and the works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude.)
Guests included Sarah Ellen, Holly Titheridge, Rey Vakili, Kate Waterhouse, Mia Healey, Carmen Grace Hamilton, Ksenija Lukich, Chanel Tobler, Yvonne Weldon, Violet Grace and Anna Heinrich.
