Despite the odd choker or chunky bracelet, statement earrings are still winning the standout jewellery race for Spring/Summer 2017. Dominating catwalks (and earlobes) across the four major cities, shoulder-grazing earrings are proving to be the on-point way to turn heads this season.

But one question still lingers: How to wear your hair? Up and off your face is the clear winner for offering 360° visibility on your investment accessory, and for a textured twist on the classic chignon take your cue from Dior and Daks.

Meanwhile Paul Hanlon’s crown braid was the perfect partner to Gucci’s beaded earrings, and the headscarfs at Fenty added to the glam of the ear-chandeliers coming down the catwalk.

However if you prefer to wear your hair down, don’t despair, ample earring display comes down to a few nimble styling moves. We lived for the matchy-matchy texture at Versace, where the flat ribbon earring made subtle statement set against Guido Palau’s poker straight strands. And the centre parts at Celine and Elie Saab worked with an on-purpose ear tuck, while a deep side part put the earrings on show at Marni and Jil Sander.

Riding the half-up ponytail wave saw slicked back strands in New York at Altuzarra and in Milan at Dolce and Gabbana, which worked back with their signature Sicillan-inspired earrings perfectly. Or kill two accessory birds with one stone via a hair clip tucked behind one ear, seen at Michael Kors and Bottega Veneta.
