If you’ve been yearning for a change in the mood, this week shouldn’t disappoint. With Mars retrograde officially under way, it’s the perfect week to give yourself permission to do a little bit less. On a practical level, clearing some blank space in your calendar for the next 10 and a half weeks will do wonders. Sit down and plot out your bare minimum to rest and restore. On a deeper level, this retrograde will be inviting us to explore how we assert ourselves (or not) socially. No matter if you’re a doormat or a steamroller, there’ll be moments to reflect on how you cope with conflict. With Venus getting pushed and shoved around this week, chances are you’ll get your first opportunity to explore just that before the week is out.

ARIES AND ARIES RISING

Here’s a physical challenge for you: how about this week, you try to do…nothing. OK so that might not be possible – you gotta eat! – but can you take it down a notch? With five planets in the most shadowy parts of your chart, there’s never been a better time to chill. Take it easy and keep your eyes peeled for a surprise development – especially financial – over the weekend.

TAURUS AND TAURUS RISING

Going with the flow is the only way through the push/pull of this week. Despite your instinct to hold on for dear life (which is totally natural BTW), try to remember that the things that wrap up, step away or don’t eventuate right now, were definitely not part of the bigger plan. Sometimes a clean break is better than a long, slow separation.

GEMINI AND GEMINI RISING

And so it begins! Mars retrograde in your home sign – especially significant for you who’ll feel its affects acutely. Expect storylines over the next 10 weeks to test your relationship to productivity and challenge your comfort levels with asserting yourself. This week, that test could come courtesy of someone you manage. Stay curious, and don’t expect to have all the answers immediately.

CANCER AND CANCER RISING

As we ricochet through the eclipse portal (the period between the solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse), the collective drama unfolding around you could feel exhausting. Even if you keep your head down, steering clear of the excitement will be tricky. Be selective with your energy and don’t be surprised if friends (or friends with benefits) drop a bombshell over the weekend.

LEO AND LEO RISING

The winds of change continue to challenge the balance between your personal life and your career this week. Despite the tension, there is the chance for an incredibly cathartic release. Letting go of some very deep seated (possibly dating as far back as childhood) hang-ups could be a silver lining. Trust the purge is necessary in order to heal.

VIRGO AND VIRGO RISING

With Mars retrograde rattling the cage at work, dealing with a situation – or a person – who you can’t quite figure out has the potential to be a big energy suck. Save your breath and try to put them into the too-hard basket. You’ll have plenty of time to troubleshoot a way out, but this is not the week to do it.

LIBRA AND LIBRA RISING

Finding a sense of tranquilly in movement– especially anything in water – will be the whimsical escape you need this week. With your ruling planet Venus joining the pressure cooker in Scorpio, planning ahead with tools to keep calm and carry on will be key. A therapeutic wardrobe clear out could also work wonders.

SCORPIO AND SCORPIO RISING

Practising non-attachment is tricky at the best of times, but this week it’s worth digging deep to stay centred. Thankfully Mars retrograde should help take the edge off even if it’s just a slight softening. With a surprise development popping up around your love life (or big news in your partner’s life) rolling with the punches will be a necessity to maintaining that famous steely composure.

SAGITTARIUS AND SAGITTARIUS RISING

It could feel like you’re holed up inside a secluded cabin while wild weather lashes at your windows this week. Yes, eclipse season can be intense, but with your ruling planet (Jupiter) back in familiar territory, you should experience a warm, welcoming safe-as-houses shift. Don’t be surprised if you finally feel ready to let go of a grudge – or a fear – that’s been draining your energy for way too long.

CAPRICORN AND CAPRICORN RISING

The action continues around your social circle this week, with Venus bringing big wildcard energy. Brace yourself for spontaneous surprise hook-ups, outbursts or confessions that could leave everyone (including you) speechless. While the delivery may lack tact, it will at the very least, clear the air.

AQUARIUS AND AQUARIUS RISING

The surprises at work – and home – continue this week. Be on the lookout when a colleague or contact shares something completely random. It may force you to close the door on a lead abruptly, but the consolidation will ultimately make room for new opportunities to unfold.

PISCES AND PISCES RISING

Picture this: you’re a bobbing around in a beautiful swimming pool, oblivious to the tensions swirling beyond your immediate vicinity. That could be you this week! You can’t totally tune out but now Jupiter has shifted back into your neck of the woods embodying a sense of optimism, compassion and creativity should feel a million times easier. When things don’t go to plan, ask yourself, ‘What is the deeper lesson in all this?’
