Just when you thought beauty’s ongoing obsession with all things nostalgic couldn’t get any deeper, hair stamps are making the rounds on Instagram.

Children of the ’90s will remember hair or ‘hot’ stamps as brightly coloured or glittery shapes that could be stamped into the hair using a device that looked more or less like a giant pen. Usually taking the form of a heart, star, peace sign or flower, the stamps were temporary and could be brushed out brushed out. Like space buns, top deck dye jobs and rainbow rinses, hair stamps are distinctly Y2K — a trend that’s dominated fashion and beauty for the last few years.

Rhianna’s look in particular was all kinds of phenomenal (and would you expect anything less from the world’s favourite beauty influencer?!).

The entire shoot was to spotlight a SavageXFenty and Fenty Beauty makeup collab, where the brand is releasing a limited edition shade of Gloss Bomb available as part of the Valentine’s Day collection. Rihanna’s hair (or is it a wig?!) is stamped with red stripes, keeping in theme with her red lace lingerie.

Rita on the other hand showed off a messy yellow heart that had been spray painted into her blonde hair, whereas Dua completely transformed her long black strands into a half blonde, half dark style imprinted with dozens of hearts and stars.

Over the Christmas break, Dua showed off a a rolodex of killer beauty looks, but this one takes the cake. Fans are speculating if this means the Physical singer will remain partially blonde for her upcoming world tour — but we’re guessing the stamps will have  faded by then.

Either way, if you’re looking for a nostalgic style that isn’t permanent, hair stamps might be in.
