Hailey Bieber is in the business of raiding the wardrobes of the men in her family for her recent sartorial escapades.

Bieber let us in on this styling secret only last month when she posted a photo dressed head-to-toe skate rat garms—see: a striped cotton long sleeve from ERL, Dickies’ two-toned carpenter jacket and low-top Vans—all pieces appropriated from her husband’s, Justin Bieber, wardrobe.

Now, Bieber is back at her “borrowed from the boys” ensembles in an aesthetic that can only be described as staples from your uncle’s forgotten 90s wardrobe.

Thankfully for Bieber, her uncles are the Baldwin brothers, Alec, William and Daniel, meaning her otherwise daggy normcore look is anything but basic.

While stepping out for an iced latte in New York—a necessary pursuit mid-heatwave—the Rhode Beauty founder eschewed her preppy street style by wearing two beloved essentials sported by father figures since antiquity: long denim jorts and socks and sandals.

A perfectly apt outfit coinciding with the Northern Hemisphere celebrating Father’s Day.

For the occasion, Bieber was spotted pairing her knee-grazing, raw-hem Levi midi’s with black leather fisherman sandals from The Row and crisp white ankle-height socks.

The lower half of her outfit may be serving “grill master” off-duty energy rather than supermodel off-duty, however, if we’ve learnt anything from the post-pandemic era of fashion it’s always to expect the unexpected.

As for Bieber’s top half, the skincare mogul tapped into the more feminine ‘whimsy goth’ aesthetic of the 90s by opting for a dainty lace camisole top. The creamy cami is comprised of deadstock vintage French chantilly lace and features a petite rosette detail that details the gathered mesh bustier.

On her arm, Bottega Veneta’s latest ‘It’ creation, the charcoal-hued Andiamo bag, and shopping bag from SoHo’s fine jewellery boutique Material Goods.

However, it wouldn’t be a Hailey Bieber ensemble without the look being completed by the accessory du jour, a baseball cap. A perfect addition to round out this high/low ensemble.

If 90s fashion is staging its comeback, we’d like more of these “authentic” vintage silhouettes, if you please.
