Hailey Bieber has officially embraced her roots. The model recently swapped her blonde locks for a more muted ‘bronde’ hue, otherwise known as the perfect low-maintenance hair colour. Bieber’s colourist (most likely her go-to Amanda Lee) took the star from her trademark bright blonde to a more edgy brunette tone a week or so ago, but we’re just now getting to see the look in all its glory, as Bieber boated through Venice for Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2022 menswear show.

Wearing a playful black velvet Saint Laurent one-piece with a high neck, Bieber’s new hair look lent the star a sophisticated air as she posed in the canals of the Italian city. The colour wasn’t entirely brunette however, with thin blonde pieces left to frame Bieber’s face, blended out into the more subdued darker shades at the crown and through the lengths.

While Bieber has been flirting with darker roots for some time now, this is the most significant hair change we’ve seen from her since she went pink way back in 2018. The 24-year-old has admitted in the past that she prefers colours that require less effort, which is why she won’t return to pastel shades in the near future.

“I loved my pink hair, but it’s hard to maintain. I get lazy and you have to do the cream rinse and the colour yourself — and I was just like, I’m done,” she told Refinery29 soon after going back to blonde.

If it’s easy colour care Bieber’s after, you can’t get more lo-fi than her current grown-out style. Opting for a darker shade through the roots allows for the hair to grow out naturally, making a root stretch one of the most popular colour techniques for those wanting to stay out of the salon.

Bieber’s new hue is no doubt far less upkeep than her creamy blonde colour, so we’re guessing this darker shade will be sticking around.
