Gingham made its grand revival last summer and the ubiquitous trend looks like it won’t be disappearing along with the warmer weather any time soon.

Sexy mini skirts and off-the-shoulder crops may no longer be appropriate as autumn sets in, but designers are still finding ways they can incorporate the checked print into their collections.

These new designs have longer hemlines and show a little less skin, but are no less sensational than their summer editions.

One of these autumn friendly pieces was recently worn by actress Blake Lively at the Final Portrait premiere.

The actress wore an asymmetric, floor-length gingham dress by Monse alongside her husband Ryan Reynolds, giving us a taste of the types of long gingham pieces we can look forward to seeing in the coming months.

We can’t predict the future but one thing is for sure: square checks will have a place in our winter wardrobes.
