When Rihanna finally shared the first photo of her baby bump on Instagram, opting to lead with a signature low-key bathroom pic, rather than the professional hot pink Chanel coat images that now live rent-free in our brains, the world went wild. Over 17 million people liked the post and Rihanna’s celebrity friends popped by to officially say a digital congratulations.
But it was a comment made by fellow mum and former Fenty model Gigi Hadid which stopped fans in their tracks: “😭🥺 three angels 💘.” Hadid’s message was quickly questioned by over 300 people, who asked her if she knows something we don’t. Three angels? Are Rihanna and A$AP Rocky expecting TWINS? “Whaaat 🤯🤯🤯🤯 is it twin or triplets??? What u on about Gigi?????,” one person wrote, while another asked, “does this mean triplets? 🤔”
After a few days of silence, Hadid was apparently alerted to the drama she’d caused and popped back to Rihanna’s post to set the record straight, explaining that Rihanna, A$AP, and the baby were the only angels she was referring to. “I just caught word of this commotion ^ 😅,” she said. “I meant rih/rocky/baby lol.”
The little angel Hadid was referring to is the first child for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, who began dating back in December 2020 after years of friendship and on-again, off-again dates. Though many were sad to see the queen of singledom, who once dumped a billionaire because she gets “bored of men”, settle down, we can at least rest easy knowing Rocky knows how good he’s got it: “A lot of guys have tried to sweep her off her feet, but Rocky actually managed to do it,” a source told People after the couple’s pregnancy announcement.
“From the very beginning, he’s doted on her,” they continued. “He’s over-the-top romantic and sends her roomfuls of flowers all the time.”
“They always have fun together,” a different source added. “They joke and act goofy. They enjoy life and like to travel. They love being together and are the loves of each other’s lives.”
In fact, Rihanna didn’t have children in her mind at all until she and Rocky got serious. “Having a baby is something she was never focused on, but being with Rocky opened her up to the idea,” reports People. “She couldn’t be happier and is so excited to be a mum.”
They added, “Everything Rihanna does, she does it her own way on her own time table, and having a baby is no different. They’re just like any other pair of parents-to-be. Yes, they happen to be famous but they’re just the cutest, giddiest young couple that’s expecting kids.”
