Since her Cody Simpson days, all eyes have been on supermodel Gigi Hadid. For years she’s been the unspoken ambassador for blondes everywhere with each trip to the hair salon slightly different to the last. In her earlier years we were shocked at the brief haircuts – chin-grazing bobs and thick front fringes – but it wasn’t until the new roaring twenties that we bore witness to the lengths (pardon the pun) of this hair chameleon. In just the past two years we’ve seen almost the full spectrum of colour, aside from jet black. And oh, wouldn’t that be a sight.

2014: Golden Blonde
Ahh, Baby Gigi. Her hair evolution begins with the golden blonde highlights of 2014 amid her relationship with Australian Cody Simpson and during a decade of nude lips and shimmery eyeshadow.
2015: The Bob
At the American Music Awards in 2015, Gigi Hadid’s hair took a dramatic transformation with the debut of a brushed-back bob. By 2016, her long locks had returned and we just want to know which hair growth supplements she was taking!
2016: Balayage
After a brief stint on the shorter side, the model’s hair seemingly returned to a healthy mid-length. At the same time, Hadid leaned into the balayage trend which took women, and the beauty industry by storm.
2017: The Front Fringe
At Milan Fashion Week for the TommyxGigi Spring 2017 show, Hadid debuted a bushy front fringe and a slightly darker hue of blonde.
2017: Bronde
The darker colour was here to stay when Hadid appeared on the red carpet at the Met Gala in May 2017. The bronde hue (a combination of blonde and brunette) was just a touch darker than a few months prior.
2018: Signature Gigi Highlights
By 2018, Hadid had returned to her roots (quite literally) with the colour that would be forever known as the signature Gigi highlights. The crown of her hair was kept more mousey while her tresses were seemingly hand highlighted. This colour would remain largely unchanged for another two years.
2020: Wispy Bangs
Admittedly saw very little of Hadid during her pregnancy with baby Khai. In one of her rare appearances on Instagram stories, she debuted wispy bangs and given the current societal climate, we expect it was the result of lockdown. It may or may not have convinced us to do the same.
2021: Ginger Tresses
This is where we pinpoint the beginning of Gigi Hadid’s ongoing hair colour transformations. The ginger tresses was the work of hairstylist Panos Papandrianos and originally done for Versace.
2021: Copper
It soon became apparent that the ginger colour was not a washout with the model embracing a more moody copper colour for the Met Gala in September last year.
2021: Brunette
As quickly as the red hair arrived, it was ousted for a more wearable brunette which made an appearance on the Coperni Spring/Summer 2022 runway, bidding the question: is blonde chuegy?
2022: Ice Blonde
Just in time for fashion month in February, Hadid opted for the lightest shaded of blonde we had seen from her since 2014. The supermodel was blonde again, the world was healing.
2022: Platinum
Just weeks later and Hadid had taken the blonde hue to the farthest of extremes with platinum blonde. It was originally debuted for the Burberry Fall/Winter 2022 runway and it has remained ever since.
