George Clooney and wife Amal Clooney appeared on the red carpet at the 2021 BFI London Film Festival overnight for the premiere of the director’s latest project, The Tender Bar. Following a Los Angeles event the week prior, the couple stepped outside The Royal Festival Hall on Sunday with PDA in full force.
The human rights lawyer wore a custom 16Arlington sequinned gown for the event which was paired with a feathered shrug, white pumps and a Moussaieff high jewellery diamond ring and earrings. The couple held hands and smiled for the paparazzi but when Amal’s shoe became stuck in the skirt of her gown, George was swift to her aid. The Clooney’s were also captured embracing in a sweet kiss and smiled at each other when their foreheads met.
Cue the “oohs”, “ahhs” and “awws”!
It’s no secret that George and Amal are completely head-over-heels for one another. Last week when asked about life in lockdown, Amal gushed about her husband in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“I’m lucky because I have a very supportive partner. And we do move around a lot, but we manage it, and I feel very lucky.”
George was previously married to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993 before he remained largely single, vowing never to marry again. That was until he met Amal and described being “swept off his feet”.
“The truth was I met this amazing woman and she took my breath away,” Clooney told co-hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett of the Smartless Podcast. “She was brilliant and funny and beautiful and kind. I was sort of swept off my feet.”
“We got engaged after a few months and got married within the first year that we met. It surprised me more than probably anybody else in the world — and everybody else was pretty surprised!” he continued.
George’s newest film The Tender Bar follows a boy growing up on Long Island who seeks out father figures among the patrons at his uncle’s bar. The forthcoming film stars Ben Affleck, Lily Rabe and Tye Sheridan and is scheduled to be released from December 17, 2021.
