Florence Pugh has worn the first Nina Ricci runway look by Creative Director Harris Reed to the BAFTAs today, ahead of Reed’s first Paris Fashion Week show for the fashion house.
Pugh’s tangerine-orange dress has landed on best dressed lists for the BAFTAs already, thanks to its incredible fan detail and flattering fishtail cut.
The gown is structural Hollywood glam and exactly what we expect from movie stars during awards season. Harris Reed shared Florence Pugh in the look on Instagram, explaining that his inspiration was a couture gown from Nina Ricci’s archival 1988 collection, and that the dress was actually the first sketch he did for the fashion house after his appointment as Creative Director last year.
Florence Pugh’s hair and makeup team contributed to the retro Hollywood feel, pairing the Nina Ricci design with a structural 90s hairstyle that mirrored the fan effect of her gown. It also seems like Florence Pugh has debuted some micro-bangs at the BAFTAs, which is a great look for her and one we hope sticks around.
The Don’t Worry Darling actress attended the BAFTAs in support of her film The Wonder, which is nominated for Outstanding British Film. Reed and Pugh have a long-standing friendship and creative relationship – the designer most recently celebrated his new collection, ‘All The World’s A Stage‘, for his eponymous label at London Fashion Week, and had Pugh open the show.
“An actual dream supporting my friend and unbelievably talented designer @harris_reed,” the actress said last week, sharing a backstage photo of herself. “Wearing your clothes is like being given the best key to the best dress up box there is. It’s full and alive and full to the brim with love. Thank you my darling for including me and such a massive well done for all that you’ve made and achieved!”
