In news that nobody could have predicted, Fifty Shades Darker has broken a record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens – and it hasn’t even been released yet.

The teaser for the Fifty Shades Of Grey sequel dropped on Wednesday and proceeded to rack up 114 million streams in 24 hours, making it the most watched film trailer in a single day of all time.

The stat comes from Universal, who added up views across multiple digital platforms including YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

It seems a shirtless Jamie Dornan exercising and a steamy make-out session between him and Dakota Johnson in the shower is a winning formula.

Fifty Shades Darker sees Dornan and Johnson reprise their roles as businessman and S&M obsessive Christian Grey and hopelessly in love university student Anastasia Steele, and is in Australian cinemas February 12 2017.
