Fifty Shades fans have been treated to a more in-depth look at the second film in the sexed-up saga, with a new trailer released on Thursday.
In the two-minute clip, Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) are up to their often inappropriate antics again; Ana removes her underwear in the middle of a posh restaurant at Christian’s instruction – later on he feels her up in a packed elevator.
But it’s not all gratuitous sex scenes. After Fifty Shades of Grey was widely criticised for lacking depth, it seems Fifty Shades Darker offers at least a little more substance in terms of plot. There’s a decidedly eerie tone to the trailer, verging on that of a crime-thriller, as a stalker follows and appears in front of Ana on several occasions.
Fifty Shades Darker also seems to address the unhealthy dynamic between Ana and Christian when her boss Jack Hyde asks her in one particularly intense moment “Do you want to be kept or have respect?”, indicating in this film we’ll see Ana grapple with that decision.
Fifty Shades Darker will be released in Australia on February 9. Watch the trailer below.
