During fashion week, seeing who is sitting front row – and what they’re wearing – can be just as enthralling as the runway itself. A perfect example of this FROW phenomenon was at the Fendi haute couture fall-winter 2022-23 show, which took place in Paris overnight.
On the runway, the collection drew inspiration from Japan, the first place designer Kim Jones visited when international travel resumed in 2021. Jones sought the assistance of a Japanese purveyor of kimono silk to help create the fabrics he used in the collection. But to the side of the runway, in the show’s front row, were a number of looks just as thrilling as those worn by Fendi’s sparkling models.

Model Winnie Harlow sat front row and, as always, almost stole the show. Dressed in a strapless cream top with printed pants and nude Fendi heels, Harlow could have stepped onto the runway and looked right at home.

Alongside Harlow was Japanese actress Hikari Mori and Taiwanese influencer Molly Chiang, layering Fendi prints, and making a serious case for both pixie cuts and space buns.

The front row also included English actress Lashana Lynch, who reminded us of the sartorial statement Fendi accessories make both on and off the runway.
