Daniel Lee’s pillow talk was scintillating from the start. Since his debut collection, Bottega Veneta’s prodigious son has been dictating fashion with his singular vision and artistic rigour, and his pillowy Pouch clutch was no doubt the catalyst of his sartorial supremacy. Two years on, it remains a mainstay in fashion, with soft clutch bags continuing to dominate the fashion landscape.
Tucked under the crook of the arms of fashion insiders everywhere, a superbly soft and squishy clutch bag is a non-negotiable. From Khaite’s sublime ‘croissant’ silhouette to Oroton’s supersized scrunchy version, the soft clutch has seen many an iteration, in many a colour, and many a size.
German label Kassl Editions is a good option for those with slightly quirkier style intentions (and a slightly ungainly disposition), with a water-repellent finish and durable shell their oversized padded clutches are both cool and klutz-free.
Even Bottega Veneta’s Pouch has since had an update – now available in almost every colour under the fashionable sun and sized from macro to micro – it also got something of a history lesson; rendered in folds of the House’s revived Intrecciato Nappa, like the delicious buttermilk version below.
