At the conclusion of season four of The Crown we said goodbye to Emma Corrin as she wrapped up her performance as Princess Diana. Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki will reprise the iconic role with a sneak peek of the upcoming season already flooding the internet. While fans wait for its highly-anticipated release Netflix has gifted us with a deleted scene from Corrin.

Viewers of the series would recall that Princess Diana gifts husband Prince Charles (played by Josh O’Connor) a video of her performance of “All I Ask of You” from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, The Phantom of the Opera for their anniversary. Charles later mocks the gesture. But we as viewers never saw the performance, until now.

It’s heartbreaking to think Princess Diana felt so alone in her marriage and this clip is just small insight into that pain.

Corrin went on to win a Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for her stunning performance as Diana. Earlier this month the 25-year-old spoke on passing the honour to Debicki.

“I’m really excited about it. I think Elizabeth is brilliant and I think that it’s totally right to allow her to take on a different kind of life for the next part of [Diana’s] journey,” Corrin said. “So I’ll be really excited to see what happens.”

“Princess Diana’s spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many,” Debicki said upon the announcement of her new role in August 2020. “It is my true privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.”

Kristen Stewart will also front the beloved Royal in a separate project by Pablo Larrain. The biopic titled “Spencer” will see its premiere in September at the Venice Film Festival. The film is said to follow one weekend of the Princess’ life as she spends the Christmas holiday with the Royal Family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. This is believed to be the moment Diana chooses to leave Prince Charles.
