Between collaborations with contemporary pop stars such as Rina Sawayama and Years & Years, Elton John has found no struggle in staying relevant in the modern music scenes. Now it looks like Sir Elton John is dipping his toes in the world of Future Nostalgia, collaborating with pop star Dua Lipa. The new track is titled ” Cold Heart,” and I say name a more iconic duo.

On Lipa’s “Studio 2054” livestream last November, John was featured as a guest after the two participated in an Instagram collaboration the month before. At John’s AIDS Foundation Oscars Pre-Party this year, Lipa headlined the performances at the event. With all this collaboration, it’s no surprise that the two decided to team up and make a single.

Lipa took to her Instagram page to announce the single, set to be released August 13. The art for the song consists of cartoon depictions of the two singers, she in a red and glistening top, and John in his iconic star sunglasses and top hat.

A snippet of the song was released, and from what we can tell, the song is heavily inspired by funk beats and brings a groovy audio experience. Lipa incorporates some of John lyrics in her vocals, singing the iconic “And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time/ ‘Til touchdown brings me ’round again to find“ line from his hit “Rocket Man.”

“I am so excited to finally be able to tell you all that I have a new single with Dua Lipa ‘Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)’ coming out this Friday!” John captioned his post on Instagram announcing the single. “Dua, I adore you, and it has been an incredible experience making this together. I can’t wait for you all to hear it!” To which, Lipa responded in the comments “I love you!!!! I’m so excited.”
