As someone with an oily-combo complexion, I don’t often deal with dry skin – but lately, like many of us, I’ve fallen victim to the perils of plummeting temperatures. My skin, usually so dependable in its suppleness, is now withering under the cold weather, leaving it looking dull and lifeless – like all the moisture has been drained from my body.

For the first time my regular skincare just isn’t cutting it, so I’ve turned to some new launches to seek out some deeper hydration. Mercifully, innovation has been on my side, as I’ve found a spate of recent arrivals that have quickly turned my dehydration around – so if you’re looking for skincare that will restore glow to seriously dry skin, scroll on.

Hada Labo Lotion No.1 Super Hydrator, $35.95 SHOP NOW

This wildly popular so-called ‘super hydrator’ has achieved cult status overseas, but only recently landed on our shores. The lightweight lotion formula boasts an impressive blend of hyaluronic acid that sinks into the skin almost instantly. It contains three molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, yet never leaves any sticky residue behind.

Summer Fridays Dream Oasis Deep Hydration Serum, $66 SHOP NOW

If I could bathe in this jelly-like serum, I would. Designed to offer deep hydration that feels light on the skin, it’s the perfect non-comedogenic option for those with oilier complexions like mine. It contains hyaluronic acid (of course) alongside squalane and glycerin to support a healthy skin barrier. I’ve noticed that the colloidal oatmeal, chamomile, aloe, arnica and tiger grass have also made a major difference to the dryness-induced redness I’ve been experiencing.

Conserving Beauty InstaMelt™ Skin Soothing Sheet Mask, $15 SHOP NOW

This mask does double duty for my face and body. The nourishing cocktail of natural ingredients – think bakuchiol, bisabolol, hemp seed oil and Reishi mushroom – have been a godsend for my flaky skin, working to calm inflammation and give it a really solid dose of moisture. I use the excess serum from the sachet to treat the backs of my hands, neck and décolletage too. Oh, and it’s also the world’s first dissolving sheet mask and comes in recyclable packaging. No big deal!

Liberty Belle Rx Date Night Deep Hydration Mask, $138 SHOP NOW

I’ve replaced my night cream with this creamy mask for the time being, leaving it on overnight to allow all the actives to soak in to my skin. The unconventional formula contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid and panthenol to support the skin barrier, but also gently exfoliates with papaya extract while it works to restore hydration for up to 72 hours. It sold out almost immediately, but there are still a few in stock at David Jones – run!
