For the first womenswear runway show in over two years, Dries Van Noten left no stone unturned. From all-black tailoring to an explosion of acid bright florals, the collection was an awe-inspiring mash-up of colour, structure, seriousness and unbridled joy.

The makeup look followed a similar suit. Makeup artist Lucy Bridge sent forth a mixed bag of liner looks: chalky cobalt blue, pewter grey, shining gold, rich black and stark white. The shape was long and rounded: not quite a wing, but slicker than your average smoked-out shadow. Graphic and imperfect and — most interestingly — varied — the resulting impact was high and lasting.

Bridge kept the eyes a focus, finishing each face with clean skin, a slight gloss, hydrated lips and pared-back brows (a common beauty trend that’s infiltrated runway looks this season).

Hair was by the legend that is Sam McKnight, who kept things slick by pairing natural texture with a wet-look finish. Strands were glossed and gleaming, worn loosely tied back or out, and with a few pieces left to frame the face. Masculine but with a rocker edge, it was the perfect finishing touch.
