Emily Ratajkowski’s podcast High Low with EmaRata has proven to be popular with cameos from the likes of Bella Thorne and Julia Fox. Her latest episode, released overnight, features none other than iconic designer Donatella Versace who sat down with the model and author to discuss her childhood, insight into the namesake fashion house and her late brother Gianni Versace.
During their conversation Versace went on to discuss her friendship with Britney Spears. She had worked with the pop star many times across her career and most recently designed Spears’ wedding dress and three reception looks for her nuptials to Sam Asghari.
“It was amazing to see Britney, so liberated, so free,” Versace recalled to Ratajkowski. The designer attended as a guest to the June wedding, describing it as “small, but very beautiful”.
“I think the first designer … she met in her life was me,” she continued. “She came to Milano, she was like 20 or 21 … she was at the height of her career, but she was so humble.”
“You know, I asked her to do a few interviews for me,” Versace added. “‘Of course, yes give me the list.’ She was sitting there doing everything, never said no to anything. She was amazing.”
Spears was freed from her conservatorship in 2021 after allegations of abuse by her father, Jamie Spears. During the 13 years under her father’s care she was prevented from marrying, having children among other strict rules. Spears has refused to speak about the conservatorship via a publication or outlet, saying, “For me, it’s beyond a sit-down, proper interview.”
