In Normandy, near Villa Les Rhumbs, the childhood home of Christian Dior, a special kind of rose grows in the cliffs. The ancestors of these wildflowers are now known as the Rose de Granville, and are at the heart of Dior’s newest skincare launch, Dior Prestige La Crème.
In June 2021, the House opened its first rose nursery, just 20km from Villa Les Rhumbs. In the Dior Rose Garden, 32,000 rose bushes are already growing, with plans to reach 50,000 by next year. But the cultivation of the garden isn’t just an ode to the flower that inspired Christian Dior all those years ago, it also marks the beginning of a new skincare innovation.

To put it simply, Dior Prestige La Crème is the luxury moisturiser we’ve been waiting for. Comprised of 94% natural-origin ingredients, La Crème is velvety, light-weight, rich, and formulated with every skin type in mind, including sensitive skin.

This year, ahead of the launch of Dior Prestige La Crème, a new extraction method was introduced, allowing freshly picked Rose de Granville petals to be cold-pressed before they even leave the garden. Once this concentrate has been processed in the Dior laboratory, the purest extract of the Rose de Granville is ready for use. According to Politano, this extract is reportedly four times more effective on the skin than niacinamide, vitamin C, and retinoic acid, leaving your skin smoother, calmer, and more even with every use.
Beyond its myriad of skincare benefits, Rose de Granville gives La Crème its signature fragrance, which is scientifically proven to deliver a relaxing sensation to its wearer. “Scientifically, scent has the power to control the mind and help calm stressful thoughts,” says Politano. “Studies carried out by neuroscience experts demonstrated a positive emotional response upon application.”
