We can’t be in the South of France (sob) but we can feast over the style and beauty looks rolling out on the 2021 Cannes Film Festival red carpet right now (enough to satisfy even the most voracious sartorial appetite).

There’s been more than one stand out look — Bella Hadid and Marion Cotillard being honourable mentions — but as far as beauty is concerned, we’re head over heels for Diane Kruger.

With her velvety skin, soft winged eye, and nudey-pink lips as crafted by makeup artist and industry legend Charlotte Tilbury, it’s chic, elevated but supremely glamorous — topped only by her incredible Armani Prive gown and Chaumet jewels.

SHOP THE LOOK

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation, $65. shop now

To emulate Kruger’s soft, radiant complexion, go for a medium coverage product like Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Foundation. Start in the centre of the face and work outwards, using your fingers or a brush to really buff it into the skin.

Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlight Stick, $73. shop now

Westman Atelier’s Lit Up Highlighter gives the skin a beautiful gloss without too much shimmer, making it perfect for a grown-up glow much like Kruger’s. Tap it onto the cheekbones, the cupid’s bow and blend.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner in Intense Black, $33. SHOP NOW

Stila’s liquid liner is the stuff of beauty legends. Not only is it rich in pigment and easy to apply, but lasts forever and ever (even in Cannes). Stare straight into a mirror (don’t tilt) and trace a line from the inner corner outwards. To create the wing specifically, imagine a straight line from the lower lash line to your temple.  Depending on how long you want your wing to be, mark a dot along this imaginary line (this will be the end point). Then use your pen to fill it in.

Mecca Cosmetica Individual False Lashes, $24. SHOP NOW

Kruger’s soft, glamorous makeup look is enhanced with long, fluffy lashes. We love these individual ones from Mecca Cosmetica because they come in three lengths, and look more natural than a complete set. Pro tip: Individual lashes are also much easier to apply.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow talk Original Lipstick, $49. SHOP NOW

When it comes to lipstick, Pillow Talk is about as iconic as it gets. It’s also the exact shade Kruger wore on the red carpet, so if you’re looking for a sign to try it, let this be it. The original hue (pictured) it a flattering pinky-taupe with a soft matte finish. It also comes in varying depths suited towards differing skin tones.

GHD Curve Plus Soft Curl Tong, $250. SHOP NOW

For a similar Hollywood wave, try holding sections of hair around a heated curling wand (such as this model from GHD) and leave to cool. Once you’ve completed your entire head, use a paddle brush to separate and soften, before adding in a deep side part. Next, sweep the front sections upwards and back, twisting slightly and securing with hair pins. Finish with a flexible hairspray and a generous spritz of shine spray.

VAQUERA Oversized bow taffeta hair clip, $114. SHOP NOW

Kuger’s frothy tulle gown is finished with a statement black bow which is fastened into the hair.
