In Paris, Diane Kruger finely demonstrated how the balaclava could make for an ultra-chic everyday accessory this season.
Attending COS Atelier’s first-ever SS23 fashion show at the Hotel D’Evreux, the actress wore a sleek white slip dress under a boxy cream blazer, accessorising with pointed pumps, a beige mini Chanel quilted flap bag, and an array of chunky gold rings. She kept her makeup classic with fluffy brows, rosy cheeks and plenty of mascara to let her outfit do the talking.
Breaking up the monochrome look, the German native made a bold statement with a deep orange balaclava that gave the outfit an edge.
Mostly associated with apres fashion and bank heists, the balaclava has been one of the most divisive trends to make its way into the trend cycle.
First seen on runways such as Louis Vuitton, Marine Serre, Marni, Loewe, Miu Miu, Y-Project and more, it’s slowly transitioned from a high-fashion buzz piece to a legitimate streetwear trend, with the likes of Alexa Chung, Beyonce, Rita Ora, and now Kruger, proving that these knits have also infiltrated Hollywood.
Perfect for keeping your head snug or even just for masking a bad hair day, we’re tipping the balaclava to be a major focus this autumn as the weather starts to cool down. We’re particularly loving iterations in bold colours and fun prints to modernise a classic look, just like Kruger.
