We’re used to seeing celebrities pile on the diamond jewellery, but diamond manicures are certainly a first.

It’s no secret that nails are big business right now (Hailey Bieber singe-handedly invented the viral chrome glazed donut manicure, after all), but at the Grammy Awards yesterday, JLo and Megan Fox both walked the red carpet with actual diamonds on their digits. True story.

JLo worked with longtime nail artist Tom Bachik (he also did her wedding manicure) to create her look: a milky pink “lipgloss” nail studded with a single row of diamonds down the centre. As per his Instagram caption, Bachik noted that the design played off her royal blue Gucci gown in a “fresh, minimalistic way”.

For the pink hue, he used a combination of Apres Nail Official Lila Tips with a thin coat of Vintage Carnation polish. Lipgloss nails is a trending term to describe that shiny, pinky-nudey hue worn by almost everyone right now.

It’s also not Jlo’s first foray into high-shine nails. Last week at the premiere for Shotgun Wedding, she showed off another lipgloss pink hue and a silver glitter tip.

As for Fox — who turned up with a broken wrist on the arm of fiancé Machine Gun Kelly – her mani included a 14 carat white gold base and a diamond cross on each digit.

Nail artist Brittney Boyce of Nails of LA worked with jeweller Marrow Fine to create the press-on set that involved custom extensions moulded to fit Fox’s nail beds, that were then 3D scanned, grown in wax, cast and set with 150 small white diamonds (equalling 76 ctw). Naturally, Machine Gun Kelly also got in on the look, getting his very own matching pinky nail with a black diamond cross detail. How’s that for beauty as art?

Scroll on to see the look up close, and expect to see tiny diamond manicures everywhere in the coming months.
