Since it was announced that Lily Rose Depp would be the face for Chanel’s latest fragrance, No. 5 L’Eau,, we knew the results would stun. And now after months of teasing the first campaign film for the fragrance has finally been revealed. The verdict? It only took a few seconds in, for the 17-year-old to prove she was the perfect fit for the revered fashion house.

The film, directed by Johan Renck (the man behind music videos for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey and David Bowie), wanted to recognise the spirit of the iconic fragrance, and told Chanel, “when I was young, fragrance ads were the most daring. I wanted to recapture that here. To me, this fragrance is very mysterious, sensual and incredibly powerful”.

“Now more than ever, flaunting your ‘difference’ is the only way to make an impact. It was the central idea throughout the film.”

The film itself sees Depp bring her effervescent and alluring charm for the ages – storming the barricade during the French Revolution, wondering through an abandoned manor, and dancing through the 70s, 80s, and 90s, all while being clad in all the Chanel… its signature tweed included.

Transforming the iconic Chanel No. 5 fragrance for a new generation of daring, influential, and enigmatic women, the new No. 5 L’Eau blends top notes of citrus, jasmine, and rose, before fading to cedar and vetiver. Set to earn the same history-making status of its predecessor, consider it as brighter and youthful sister concoction to the original juice.
