When you’re a pop megastar, your world tour usually involves painstaking choreography, endless rehearsal and fantastical creations made for the stage. When you’re Céline Dion, your world tour, Courage, involves all of these things, except instead of sequins and stilettos (staples of any showgirl’s tour wardrobe), it’s a pair of sneakers.
Teasing her forthcoming Courage World Tour on Instagram, Dion’s latest post featured a surprise style statement by the French-Canadian chanteuse; a pair of chunky black sneakers. Punching the air proudly, microphone in hand, Dion’s shiny chrome parachute pant and top combo was completed with bulky black sneakers which erred on the side of bowling shoe. While it could be a rehearsal outfit, the singer is not one to shy away from bold sartorial statements, every new look proving a kind of style revelation for us all in awe.
Of her eccentric style, she recently told Entertainment Tonight it all comes down to courage and confidence in yourself. “I dress for me, the way I feel…I want to feel that I feel great about myself, I feel strong about myself, I feel good about my decisions with the help of a lot of people. It’s all about courage and I think everyone should feel like that”. So whether you take the stage in vertiginous stilettos or a pair of ugly sneakers, according to Céline Dion, it’s fine – as long as you do you.
