Thought Rose threw her Heart of the Ocean pendant into the ocean at the end of Titanic? Wrong. Turns out Céline Dion has had it all along, and has decided to pull it out for Couture Fashion Week.

Stepping out in Paris in a decidedly more “street” take on couture, Dion traded the Ronald Van Der Kemp feathers and Miu Miu frills for an outfit that resonates with any ’80s and ’90s baby; a slogan tee that read: “I heart Paris Hilton” and the iconic Heart of the Ocean pendant from Titanic draped around her neck (Paris Hilton and dazzling diamonds – fitting, don’t you think?)

Both brilliant and cheeky, Dion’s dash of fashion irony is just the thing to lighten the very serious mood of couture week, the slogan tee paying tribute to the original ’00s It-Girl, with the heart-shaped blue diamond an homage to the 1997 blockbuster. She teamed the kitsch tee – from beacons of sartorial satire, Vetements – with an oversized grey plaid blazer from the designer, a black mini skirt, pointed pumps and Karen Walker sunglasses, smiling and smug as she left her hotel in Paris.

It’s also not the first time Dion has recalled her Titanic days. In 2016, she wore Vetements’ Titanic sweatshirt; a desperate Rose DeWitt Bukater clinging to a hapless Jack Dawson above the sinking ship, sending the internet into overdrive with nostalgic worship.

As for the unexpected but very welcome tribute to Paris Hilton, we only have one response. That’s hot. Near, far, wherever you are, we will always love you, Céline.
