Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson have kept their relationship relatively under wraps for the past year and a half, only speaking about one another on the very odd occasion and pretty much never posting about each other on social media.
But that all changed last week when Benson celebrated her 30th birthday, something commemorated by even the Olsen twins.
To mark her girlfriend/rumoured fiance/possible wife’s birthday, Delevingne made up for almost two years of privacy by posting a gallery of images of herself and Benson, including one of them kissing in the bath, alongside the caption: “Happy birthday @ashleybenson There is so much I could say but something I love and cherish most about us is that I don’t need to because YOU KNOW and that’s all that matters. It’s you and me which is my favourite. My safe place. You let me be silly, you let me be wild, you keep me free, secure and curious. I feel like I’ve known you my entire life and I am so proud of watching you grow into the woman that you always dreamt of being. I love you beyond words my sprinkles, choonchi, angel face, grumpy ass, sweet cheeks, never boring, buttmunch, Benson ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Three days later, Benson posted her own tribute, revealing Delevingne had surprised her with a trip to Morocco for her birthday, somewhere the Pretty Little Liars star says she’d “always wanted to visit.” The gallery shows the pair taking a hot air balloon ride, getting henna tattoos and riding dirt bikes during the trip.
“I was surprised on my 30th birthday. Morocco has always been a place I’ve wanted to visit. I faced so many fears and took on new adventures with my best friend by my side. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I love you @caradelevingne. Thank you for making my birthday the best yet,” Benson captioned the post.
Benson and Delevingne were first linked romantically back in May 2018 after meeting on the set of the movie, Her Smell. Delevingne first spoke publicly about Benson while receiving an award at the TrevorLIVE New York Gala, saying, “I also have another very special woman in this room to thank and you know who you are.”
“She’s one of the people who helped me love myself when I need it most and I really needed it. She showed me what real love is and showed me how to accept it, which was a lot harder than I thought. I love you, Sprinkles.”
