Bottega Veneta creative director Matthieu Blazy has just revealed the Summer 2023 campaign for the Italian brand featuring the talent of fashion icon Kate Moss and Australian model Emma Balfour.
They do say good things come in three and this has been a good week for the Italian luxury label. Not only have they dropped a new campaign with a new bag that is destined to achieve cult status, but Kendall Jenner’s monochrome maroon look from the Spring Summer 2023 runway collection has sent fashion fanatics into a frenzy.
Described as the world in a small room, the campaign conveys a stillness in motion, as models in the Spring Summer 2023 collection are shot on location in different parts of the world – an inner city intersection, in front of the ocean or in the case of Balfour, a sandstone escarpment near her own home on the coast of New South Wales.
The concept, unique to each talent who inspired the setting or background for the shot, captures the fluidity of the Spring Summer 2023 collection that was first seen last year at Milan Fashion Week, one where even leather can be lightweight and supple enough to be worn either beachside or in an urban setting.
Embedded in the campaign is the arrival of the house’s new everyday bag: the Andiamo. Translated from Italian, Andiamo means “let’s go” – a directive that neatly sums up the nature of the new must-have accessory for both men and women.
A new expression of the signature intrecciato technique, the Andiamo is made entirely of paper calf leather for supreme softness and durability. Featuring an option for either shoulder or hand-straps it highlights how Blazy’s vision for the maison is one wedded to functionality. Where practicality and the everyday is as much a luxury as formal occasions.
Or, in the words of Matthieu Blazy himself, it expresses the principle of “craft in motion”.
