In light of the recent, unjust murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, Australia has also been forced to acknowledge and confront its own systematic racism towards our Indigenous population. As reported by The Guardian, 432 Indigenous Australians that have died in police custody since 1991 – a figure that’s both appalling but barely scrapes the surface of years and years of oppression. In solidarity with our Indigenous members of society alongside BIPOC people world over, a series of peaceful protests have been organised to take place across Australia this Saturday, June 6.

As we continue to educate ourselves on the current racial discourse, it’s paramount to not just be reactive but proactive when it comes to being an ally. Read, learn, donate where you can, engage in conversations and turn up to protests. Below, you’ll find a list of all the events taking place in Australia this weekend.
