Since they were first spotted together in October of last year, Billie Eilish’s relationship with musician Jesse Rutherford has been the subject of much debate between fans online. But if Eilish has heard the critics, in her signature style, she’s making sure they know she doesn’t care.
Over the weekend, the singer posted a gallery of photos from the Easter celebration she spent with her family — while subtly letting the world know that her 31-year-old boyfriend was very much a part of the day.
In the second photo of her photo dump, which showed her wearing an outfit totally different from her usual black, goth-like hues, Rutherford’s hand, with its giveaway “love” tattoo, appears placed on Eilish’s leg, over her white mesh tights.
Making the most of the L.A. sunshine, the 21-year-old wore a white and blue floral off-the-shoulder dress by Yuhan Wang, which she paired with Nike Air Force One sneakers, patterned socks and gold chains around her neck, including a layered pendant necklace by Harris Reed x Missoma.
Posing with a grassy backyard in the background and Easter eggs on the table behind her, Eilish wore the dress styled off the shoulder, revealing her champagne-pink bra straps with lace trim and leaving her black hair loose and straight.
Eilish has spoken a little about her relationship with Rutherford, namely congratulating herself for managing to lock down her dream man. “Yeah, I do [have a boyfriend now],” she told Vanity Fair last year. “And it’s really cool, and I’m really excited, and I’m really happy about it. I managed to get my way to a point in my life where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f*cking f*cker alive, but pulled his ass.”
“Are you kidding me?” she continued. “Can we just—round of applause for me? Thank you. Jesse Rutherford, everyone! I pulled his ass—all me! I did that shit. I locked that motherf*cker down.”
Eilish shared a little more detail about their relationship when discussing her preferred love language. “My whatever they say love language is just physical touch,” she began.
“I just need to be touching skin all the time. Touching and cuddling and hugging and anything skin-related is really a big thing for me. And other than that, just like freedom. You know, I don’t wanna be controlled. I wanna be trusted, and I wanna be able to have space, and I want love and attention, and equal admiration is really important. I just am really inspired by this person [Rutherford], and you know he’s inspired by me. It’s really cool.”
