Disney executives have their eye on Beyonce to voice Nala in The Lion King live-action remake, it’s been revealed.
Director Jon Favreau has reportedly offered Queen Bey the role and is awaiting a response from the pregnant-with-twins singer, Variety reports.
While Bey has stepped out of the spotlight as she prepares to welcome her twins – she pulled out of headlining Coachella this month – given its only a voice-acting role, she may just be able to do it. Disney are said to be doing “whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule”.
It was announced that Atlanta star Donald Glover has signed on to voice Simba, meanwhile Mufasa will be voiced by James Earl Jones.
As a soon-to-be mother of three, that’s three very good reasons for Beyonce to voice one of the lead characters of what’s sure to be an instantly iconic children’s film, as was the original cartoon film released in 1994. Financials could also be a good motivator – the original Lion King made $968.5 million worldwide, and Bey and Jay Z are going to have two extra mouths to feed soon. Gold-plated baby bottles don’t come cheap!
The new Lion King will not feature actors like the Beauty And The Beast remake – technology will be used to create very real-looking, talking animals.
A release time frame frame for the movie has not been made public.
