Beyonce and Jay Z don’t do spontaneous when it comes to social media. The couple’s online image seems carefully curated and controlled, so Snapchat, with its off-the-cuff style, isn’t a platform we see them hurrying to sign up to anytime soon.
So let’s all take a moment to thank Usher, who Snapchatted a candid shot of the couple at the New York premiere of his new film, Hands Of Stone.
It seems Bey and Jay enjoyed couple dressing at Wimbledon last month so much that they decided to do a repeat performance, wearing matching grey power suits for the occasion. Talk about a power couple.
There’s no doubt Usher must’ve sought the approval of the couple and their team before he posted the Snap (like all good friends should) and it seems Bey and Jay loved the pic, because within hours it was on Beyonce.com, along with several full-length shots of Bey’s outfit.

The couple’s appearance in NYC bodes well for rumours Queen Bey will drop a surprise performance at the MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden on Sunday (Monday morning AEST). With an incredible 11 awards to her name for Lemonade, it would certainly be appropriate, and with her next Formation World Tour performance not scheduled until September 7, it seems that might be what brought the couple to the Big Apple – aside from Usher’s film premiere, of course.
