Typically, a red carpet rollout happens a little something like this: press and journalists arrive; lesser-known celebrities, or those who are just starting out in their careers arrive; bigger names show up; then mega stars appear (we’re looking at you, Leo, Brad, Jen and Cate). Following this, everyone makes their way inside to be seated. Finally, after drinks are served and mains are out, Beyoncé sneaks in the back door, appears in the background of a few shots and leaves the internet reeling: “Beyoncé was there?!”

Such was the case at today’s Golden Globes, where Mrs Knowles-Carter failed to bless the world with a red carpet appearance but still managed to attend the ceremony itself. Quite the enigma, it’s not uncommon for the Lion King star to go about these things quietly. Part of the Queen B allure, perhaps?

Grand entrance or not, Beyoncé was inside The Beverly Hilton looking as glamorous as ever, dressed in what looks like a lithe black gown with enormous golden puffed sleeves. Her hair was worn sleek, straight and shiny; the Destiny’s Child special. Paired with larger-than-life earrings and a radiant, shimmering complexion, her appearance was short, but as always, incredibly sweet.

Beyoncé was expected at the awards due to her role in nominated film, The Lion King. Rumour has it she was seated next to Ellen Degeneres – a dinner table conversation we wouldn’t mind being a part of.

At the end of the day, it’s safe to say that we’re all in agreement that Beyoncé arriving an hour late is better than no Beyoncé at all.
