Some days I’m buried in emails and drowning in deadlines. But other days, I’m swiping and swatching a stack of new makeup launches to decide what’s worth talking about, and what’s not. Today was (thankfully) one of the latter, so I’ve taken the liberty of compiling five of the best new products on shelves right now. There’s a truly innovative brow gel, a lighter-than-air powder compact and dewy cheek tint that will give you really good glow.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze, $38. shop now
I’m just not into feathered brows. There, I said it. It’s a personal choice, but my brows are really long and I don’t think it works. But I do love a fluffy brow (I’m not crazy) so this Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze gel is on high rotation right now. It’s actually one of the few products I’ve used that truly keeps long, rouge hairs in place all day long. For a natural finish, I brow through with the supplied spoolie and then run a secondary clean brush through to remove any excess.

Dior Forever cushion powder, $94. shop now

Funnily enough, I’m not much of a powder girl either, but this Dior cushion compact has me converted. Aside from the fact that it’s painfully chic to look at, it might just be one of the lightest, most luminous compacts I’ve tried (and there has been many). The cushion mesh interior almost acts as a sieve, allowing a super fine dusting to move past and onto the powder puff. A few strategic taps on the forehead, chin and sides of the nose and my skin looked airbrushed. Powder, perfected.

Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint, $64. shop now

Milk Makeup launching into Sephora is just about the greatest 2021 beauty development so far, and this Sunshine Skin Tint is my current favourite. It’s almost like a tinted oil that melts into the skin and provides a really fresh, healthy-looking amount of coverage. The rollerball is also genius! I just move it all around and buff in with a brush or sponge.

Flavedo and Albedo Dew Tint, $44. shop now

Flavedo and Albedo is a new-ish beauty brand whereby every product is housed in cute plastic-free packaging. But even better is what’s inside, namely Dew Tint: a super fresh, creamy blush formula. It’s really emollient, making it a great choice for anyone has dry skin or craves a really bouncy, dewy makeup look. There’s three shades in the range, but I love Rose (pictured) for the perfect barely-there flush.

Bite Beauty Upswing Full Volume Mascara, $39. shop now

I love testing mascara because the results are instant and I’ll know by 5 o’clock if it can withstand the tears/nervous sweats/Sydney humidity/several hundred tired eye rubs that are part of my day-in-the-life. Not only does this tick those boxes, but it delivers length and volume in spades. Think full, fluffy lashes that feel light and look as if they belong to a three-year-old. Bonus points for the inclusion of castor oil, a know lash conditioner.
