If you’ve spent the last 18 months holed up in your home like this writer has, there was likely a period where you forgot how much of an impact good hair can have on your day. As the pandemic put a temporary pause on IRL interactions, we were given something of a pass when it came to styling our hair everyday – which allowed many of us to wholeheartedly embrace the unstyled top-knot.

But as the world reopens (and its no longer socially acceptable to push the boundaries of ‘slicked back’), we’re reminded of just how seismic the shift in our mood can be when we’re rocking freshly-styled hair. It’s renewed our interest in taking care of our tresses, so we’re spending a little more time on our haircare and styling than we perhaps were previously.

Thankfully beauty brands understood the assignment, providing us with a spate of new hair launches to invest in. Here are a few of GRAZIA‘s favourites.

Bread Beauty Supply Scalp-serum, $28 SHOP NOW

This clever scalp serum does away with abrasive scrubs in favour of a lightweight fluid, using the same principles as chemical exfoliators in skincare. It contains Mandelic Acid, a gentle AHA that allows the scalp to re-boot overnight, dissolving any build-up and leaving a cooling sensation at the roots. It’s particularly handy for curly or textured types, but does just as well on fine hair.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo, $102.56 SHOP NOW

The world has been waiting for the expansion of Dr. Barbara Sturm’s haircare range, and we’re pleased to see that the doctor has finally obliged. This new shampoo works to reduce excessive hair fall, strengthening at the roots and promoting new growth. It also helps to protect your hair from environmental aggressors, such as heat, pollution and UV rays.

After the global success of the brand’s blonde-focused shampoo, ELEVEN Australia have released an accompanying conditioner. The formula helps to negate brassy tones, in favour of a vibrant blonde colour. It also works to hydrate as it brightens, leaving your hair looking soft and salon-fresh.

Virtue Flourish Density Booster, $71 SHOP NOW

Fine, lank or thinning hair will benefit from Virtue’s new Density Booster, an everyday treatment that stimulates the scalp to encourage growth and thicker, stronger hair. Generating hair growth is a science and this formula has it in spades, with Alpha Keratin 60ku to repair and biomimetic signal peptides to prime the scalp for newly formed strands.
