This year’s MTV VMAs was a unique one. It was the first real award show red carpet held during the Coronavirus pandemic, albeit a very different version of one. Held in various outdoor spots around New York City, celebrities arrived in the new pandemic-friendly format, some even shooting pre-recorded segments. Bella Hadid was one of those celebrities, filming her award presentation on Friday (which set tongues wagging amid a reported rehearsal reunion with ex-boyfriend The Weekend).
But of course, Bella Hadid’s segment only went live today during the VMAs – and in risqué fashion nonetheless. Wearing an outfit seemingly straight out of the late nineties / early noughties – two decades she’s very fond of – Hadid’s all-black look left little to the imagination. Down below, it was business as usual: a pair of conversative black slacks and square-toe shoes with chain detail. But up top, the (see-through) magic happened: a sheer black bodysuit with tricky cut-outs, delicate straps, elongated sleeves and a lot of exposed bosom, even a peek of nipple.
Hair was also akin to the decade, an up ‘do with the kind of spiky, straightened tuffs you’d likely see on a video clip on the iconic music channel in the early ‘oughts, while makeup was super smoky.
“VMA’s🖤 Presenting a very very special award !!!,” she wrote on Instagram. “This is going to be insane !!!! Styled by @mr_carlos_nazario hair @evaniefrausto makeup @evaniefrausto nails by @nailsbymei.”
Another noughties look in the style book of Bella Hadid.
