Bella Hadid is no stranger to a divisive fashion trend – or beauty trend, for that matter, if you count her love for tendrils and fluoro face-framing highlights – so we really shouldn’t be surprised that she’s fervently adopting Prada’s puffy blazer and coat collection. Hadid, who is fresh off the Fendi haute couture runway, was spied out and about in Paris rocking a padded leather blazer from the house’s autumn/winter 2020 collection.
But this isn’t your average mid-winter puffer, oh no. The soft caramel hue and sumptuous leather lends some professional polish to what has traditionally been viewed as a casual style, thanks to the pillowy exterior. The high-end spin means Hadid gets the insular advantages of heavy-duty outerwear without sacrificing style – the perfect getting-about outfit for her Parisian jaunt.
Hadid wore her new favourite coat with multi-coloured knit separates from The Elder Statesman, colourful accessories and of course, a Skims face mask for COVID-19 safety. It was a loud look, but hardly the most we’ve come to expect from the model.
It’s also not the first time she’s shown love for puffy Prada outerwear on this particular European work trip. A mere day earlier, Hadid was snapped wearing the longer coat silhouette from Prada’s Re-Nylon range, which falls a little more in step with the puffy jackets we’re used to.
This time Hadid rocked an all-black ensemble, using her accessories – a vibrant knit scarf and gloves, with gold chunky earrings – to add interest. The fabrication of this Prada coat might make naysayers of the leather iteration a little more comfortable, but it still straddles the line between workwear and elevated activewear with ease.
