If Bella Hadid’s personal wardrobe was any indication – a colourful collection of preloved finds – it is no surprise that the supermodel has worn a streak of archival designer gowns at the 74th annual Cannes Film Festival this week. It all started last night when the 25-year-old returned to Cannes in a 1987 custom-designed dress by the late Gianni Versace for the evening.

An homage to the Italian fashion house continued throughout the evening when she attended the Cannes 75 Anniversary Dinner in Versace Fall/Winter 2001 which featured a plunging neckline and leather detail at the hips. She was again photographed – this time from a sun-drenched balcony – in a corset-style Versace ensemble from the brand’s FW 2003 collection.

Overnight Hadid ended her string of Versace looks with a vintage Chanel gown for the Chopard Loves Cinema Gala Dinner at Hotel Martinez. It was pulled from Sielian Vintage and features a strapless velvet bodice, puffed off-the-shoulder sleeves and a tiered skirt – styled by Law Roach.

At the 2021 Cannes Film Festival – a return to lavish red carpet events after the pandemic – Hadid went viral for wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture Spring/Summer 2002 column gown at the screening of Annette. It was a gown that was once worn by fellow supermodel Naomi Campbell two decades prior.
