There’s been a lot of discourse around ‘girlhood’ in the zeitgeist as of late. Between “girl dinners,” “girl math,” and coquettish style, we’ve observed a collective need to oversimplify a complicated way of being. And though we acknowledge that womanhood is a weighty concept, the joyful simplicity doesn’t need to be relegated to youth. With her Resort 2025 collection, Beare Park’s Gabriella Pereira proved just that.

Held at Meers Hall, the newest wing of the Art Gallery of NSW, the show was a varied expansion of the brand’s boldly elegant DNA, eschewing abstract concepts in favour of a more pragmatic approach to design. “Resort 25 is devoid of transient themes or concepts,” said Pereira. “It’s about empowering women to invest in pieces they can wear and cherish for decades.”

While we’ve all enjoyed extreme cut-outs, mini hemlines, and the ‘bow boom’, Pereira eschews these more juvenile notions of femininity, designing instead for the woman who’d rather move through the world without sheepishly pulling down her skirt or fretting over slips. The result is an assertive sense of self, with dresses, tailoring, and newly introduced denim genuinely filling a gap for the brand’s loyal customers.

In a palette of charcoal, grey, ice white, deep ruby, and shades of champagne, Resort 2025 offers a wardrobe of great depth without taking itself too seriously. As showcased in the dynamic styling by Nichhia Wippell, which saw Bermuda shorts and masculine outerwear paired with sleek stilettos, delicate fabrics and Paspaley pearls, the label’s knack for serving modern women leans into dualities with an accessible playfulness. Contrasts of colours, textures and opacity solidified the brand’s signature fusion of ethereal glamour and everyday function.

“The collection is a true continuation of the decisive simplicity that defines the Beare Park aesthetic. Rather than creating a new seasonal direction, I feel we have instead lent into the true tone of the brand,” added Pereira. “I think this speaks to our commitment to creating timeless pieces that are designed for high wardrobe rotation…we understand our customer more than ever and are updating and building upon our key silhouettes in some of our most beloved fabrications.”

For Pereira, who left her corporate job to pursue design when she realised few brands were catering to her needs, getting a show together always starts with the fabric.

“I reach out to our suppliers globally to source swatches of their latest collections. I have to see the swatches in person to understand the hand feel. I’m very tactile and only wear specific types of very comfortable fabrics,” she explained to GRAZIA. “From here, I feel like the image of the collection begins to form and we can start designing as well as working on the production elements, such as show location and music.”

This season also marked a special collaboration with New Zealand accessories label Yu Mei, with a total of twelve pieces that will be available to shop in October.

“The Yu Mei Resort ’25 collection, designed to complement Beare Park’s, draws from our travel experiences,” explained the label’s founder Jessie Wong. “I focused on a neutral colour palette which has slight nods to Parisian flavours—and suede was chosen to offset any shiny textures in Gabriella’s range.”

Wong’s favourite piece of the bunch? The ‘Bobby’ bag. “It was an iterative process to get the design detailing right—and it brings together both garment-making techniques and some of our most well-known design signatures, which have been used throughout the Yu Mei range since the beginning,” she tells GRAZIA. “Its name holds a special meaning for both of us and when rendered in suede, it’s a real stand out.”
