In case you hadn’t noticed, bangs – or a fringe, if you will – are officially back. While the style is an undisputed classic cut, it’s been several seasons since it took hold of Hollywood the way that it suddenly has this Northern summer. After a few years experimenting with curtain bangs and wolf cuts, the fully-fledged fringe – in all it’s wispy, high maintenance glory – is now 2022’s hottest hair look.
The evidence? Allow us to present some recent shots of the celebrity style set, who all seemingly cut bangs this month. First there was Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs moment at the Michael Kors show. Then queen of all that is cool, Rihanna, was snapped attending a party with beau A$AP Rocky with a distinctive new hair look. The new mama’s long dark locks were now complemented by a full, lash-skimming fringe.
Then there’s Emily Ratajkowski, who cut her own bangs on TikTok. The model chopped her long locks into a piece-y fringe that swept low over her forehead, before later enlisting her hairstylist to perfect the shape. A post-breakup cliché? Perhaps, but it’s also seriously en vogue.
Most recently there’s Kylie Jenner, who went the full chop after experimenting with baby bangs during a recent photo shoot. Coupled with XXL extensions, the star’s fringe sweeps effortlessly to the side, allowing for ample versatility in the styling.
Of course, leading the bangs brigade this US and Euro summer was undoubtedly Bella Hadid. The model had baby bangs cut a few months back, before opting for a softer, longer fringe. When she doesn’t want to style it, Hadid simply slicks her bangs back into her signature sleek bun with pomade or gel, which is actually the perfect solution to a typically high-maintenance cut.
Zoë Kravitz also recently demonstrated the way to wear bangs to an evening event, brushing her short fringe to the side for an elegant take on the Oscars red carpet.
We’re gonna go ahead and schedule our appointments right now.
