The Los Angeles Police Department have confirmed that five people have been arrested in relation to the shooting of Ryan Fischer and the robbery of two of Lady Gaga‘s french bull dogs, Gustav and Koji: James Jackson, 18; Jaylin White, 19; Lafayette Whaley, 27; Harold White, 40; and Jennifer McBride, 50.

According to a press release obtained by E! Online, Jackson, Jaylin White and Whaley were each charged with one count of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and second-degree robbery. White and McBride were charged with accessory to attempted murder.

In addition, Jackson was charged with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and a felon carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. White faces one count of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.

Each person is being held at USD$1 million (AUD1.29 million) bail.

The attack is believed not to be a target on Gaga, rather the high value of the dogs. Dog napping has been rife throughout high-profile neighbourhoods. According to the American Kennel Club, an estimated two million dogs are stolen each year.

The LAPD alleges that McBride responded to the USD$50,000 reward set by the pop star. Investigators discovered McBride “had a relationship with the father of one of the suspects, Harold White.”

“This was a brazen street crime that left a man seriously wounded,” District Attorney George Gascón said in the release. “We have alleged very serious charges in this case and have faith that justice will be appropriately served as this case unfolds in court.”

Gaga was filming Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci in Rome when Fischer was shot on February 25. The third pup, Asia, escaped the robbery. In an Instagram post, the dog walker and close friend of Gaga recounted the horrific attack.

“Four days ago, while a car sped away and blood poured from my gun shot wound, an angel trotted over and laid next to me,” Fischer wrote. “My panicked screams calmed as I looked at her, even though it registered that the blood pooling around her tiny body was my own. I cradled Asia as best I could, thanked her for all the incredible adventures we’d been on together, apologised that I couldn’t defend her brothers, and then resolved that I would still try to save them… and myself.”

At the time, Fischer’s family spoke to E! News saying, “Ryan is receiving extraordinary care in the hospital right now and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery. We cannot possibly say enough to thank all of the first responders, nurses and doctors who have worked so tirelessly to care for Ryan.”

They added, “We also want to thank Lady Gaga who has shown nothing but non-stop love and concern for Ryan and our family right from the outset.”
