A week after the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, Ariana Grande has spoken publicly.

The singer, who dated the rapper for around two years until they broke up in May this year, posted a short video of Miller laughing and smiling on Instagram on Saturday morning.

In the caption, she expressed her shock at the 26-year-old’s death, and her sadness that she was not able to prevent it (Miller died of a drug overdose after struggling with addiction).

“I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will,” the 25-year-old said.

“I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do.

“You were my dearest friend. For so long. Above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest.”

As we reported last week, Miller was found dead in his home after an apparent drug overdose.

A funeral will be held in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
