“Ah! Aperol!”

First launched at the Padua International Fair in 1919, the unique recipe of Aperol – a blend of citrus oil and precious herbs – has remained largely unchanged. And in a blissful marriage of the bittersweet aperitif, Prosecco and soda water, Aperol Spritz has been happily consumed at social gatherings for many years. Carrying on the tradition of an afternoon tipple, the Italian heritage of Aperol has travelled to the harbour-side city of Sydney.

Situated amongst the hustle and bustle of Sydney’s famous Darling Harbour is the quintessential Italian restaurant of Fratelli Fresh. Known for its extensive offering of Mediterranean snacks across breakfast, lunch and dinner – think wood fired pizza, rich pasta and delectable antipasti – the vibrant interiors of signature red and white has now become the backdrop of the beloved Aperol Spritz.

The space has become a go-to for catching up after work or during the weekend and fusing old-school furnishings with modern decor has created the perfect location to liven up winter days. And continuing the beloved tradition that has reigned for 100 years, Fratelli Fresh will host its hotly anticipated ‘Aperol 100 Years Long Lunch Series’, ushering in a crowd of foodie lovers from across the city.

The celebratory event on July 20th in Darling Harbour consists of an expertly curated three-course long lunch, accompanied by a delicious Aperol Spritz. In a bid to ‘live as the Italians do’, the exploration of Venetian-inspired food will start with the Sarde in saor – marinated sardine, onion, raisins and pine nuts – and Baccala mantecato – cod brandade crostinis. A squid ink risotto or Italian style chicken will follow and then end on a sweet note of sweet pastry fritters aptly paired with Aperol sorbet.

Additionally, during the birth month of Italy’s favourite beverage – from July 1st to July 31st – enjoy two Aperol Spritz and marinated olives from $19.19 at any Fratelli Fresh restaurant.

Fratelli Fresh’s Darling Harbour Long Lunch will take place on July 20. Gather some friends and toast to the historic Aperol Spritz by booking tickets HERE.
