Creative director Anthony Vaccarello is never one to stray from a statement and overnight at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards he led a cast of supermodels onto the red carpet. All wearing Saint Laurent, of course, the famed designer was joined by the likes of Hailey Bieber, Kate Moss, Amber Valletta and Shalom Harlow for a lavish evening in New York City.
Each guest was dressed in a slinky ensemble from spring/summer 2023, a collection that took inspiration from dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, and sounded the return of the ‘going out dress’.
Bieber opted for a more minimalistic approach in a vampy black number while both Moss and Valetta wore a green-ish hue with a head scarf draped around their neck and cascaded down the bust. Moss’ featured a sheer skirt which she paired with black panties. Other stars to be dressed in YSL included British actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, models Mica Argañaraz and Anja Rubik, singer Dominic Fike, and photographer Gray Sorrenti.
The annual innovator awards recognises groundbreaking talents from disciplines such as fashion, art, entertainment, architecture, design, technology, the performing arts, philanthropy, food and literature. Vaccarello was honoured for his contribution to the fashion industry and was also joined by honourees, Maya Rudolph for comedy, Jenny Holzer for art, Jony Ive for design, Margot Robbie for entertainment, Jeanne Gang for architecture and Annita for music.
The Belgian-born designer was appointed creative director of Saint Laurent in April 2016 following Hedi Slimane.
