Allison Williams has split from her husband Ricky Van Veen.

The Girls star announced the news on Friday, telling the New York Post:

“With mutual love and respect, we have made the decision to separate as a couple.

“We are grateful for the friendship that we have and will continue to have.”

Williams, 31, first met the College Humour founder in 2011. She and Van Veen, who is now a top executive at Facebook, got engaged in 2014. They tied the knot in 2015 in a ceremony at Brush Creek Ranch, Wyoming – the same venue where Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner were wed this month – with Tom Hanks officiating.

The actress, who earned rave reviews for her chilling performance in horror film Get Out, rarely spoke publicly about her relationship with Van Veen.

It seems Williams is beginning a new era of her life not only personally, but professionally. After Girls ended and the runaway of success of Get Out, she told the New York Post recently, she’s figuring out the kinds of roles she wants long-term.

Williams said she is hungry to do a good, ballsy comedy, but explained, “though those are the scripts I end up sending back with the most notes because the characters are often a little underdeveloped.”

Next year she stars in thriller Horizon Line, about a former couple who are the only passengers on a tiny plane to a wedding on a private island.

“My parents have been saying, ‘When are we just going to be able to relax for one of your movies?’” she told the Post. “I don’t know if that’s ever going to happen.”
