If you’re feeling mildly triggered by all of the low-rise jeans, cut-out dresses and crop tops on your Instagram feed of late, let us provide you with a palette cleanser of sorts, courtesy of British fashion darling Alexa Chung.

While the likes of Dua Lipa embrace the Y2K trend and the return of the ‘90s through belly button rings, trucker caps and body con mini dresses—all of which the pop star has debuted in the past weekend alone—Chung is instead opting to keep things classic, both at home and abroad.

For her European holiday in Mallorca, Spain the designer avoided the allure of the current trends being pushed through Tik Tok, opting instead to pack a suitcase full of timelessly chic outfits you could see her wearing in 10 years time.

On Instagram, Chung showed off her summer suitcase, consisting of a Paco Rabanne maxi dress, a Hunza G yellow one-piece, a chic white jeans and top combo, red mary janes, and a blue dress with lace detailing—all of which have been a welcome change for those among us who find the thought of midriff-baring attire almost as stressful as that of boarding a plane to head to Spain in the first place.

But perhaps her most quintessentially Alexa Chung look of all? A pair of handmade crochet shorts:

Though Chung didn’t tag where her shorts are from, much to the dismay of people in her Instagram comments, many assumed they were knitted by a family member or friend. Though if we know Chung they’re more likely a preview of an upcoming Alexa Chung collection than a commission for her grandma.

If so, Chung has hit the nail on the head: just last week, French-British influencer Camille Charriere—also on holiday, this time in Greece—wore a similar style of handmade shorts, debuting a white knitted pair she bought from a local market on Instagram over the weekend.

Y2K or crochet? Your choice.
